Individual Trustee vs. Corporate Trustee
There are several considerations which may impact the trustee structure you select for your SMSF. This may take the form of establishing a SMSF with individual trustees or a corporate trustee structure. One of the main differences between an Individual and Corporate trustee structure relates to the way the assets of your fund are registered.

The assets of the fund need to be registered in the names of the individual trustees of the fund, 'as trustees for' the fund. If an individual trustee is removed or another added, you must change the titles of the SMSF's assets. This can be costly and time-consuming. |
The assets of the fund need to be registered in the name of the company that has been setup to act as corporate trustee: the corporate trustee 'as trustee for' the fund. If there is a change in a director of the trustee company, the corporate trustee doesn't change, so the titles of the SMSF’s do not need to change. |
